Christian churches today often emphasize Christian service and ministries. These are very valuable and noble Christian activities. However, there's another important part of our Christian life and we are often too busy to do it.
We need to spend time alone with Jesus in both Scripture and prayer. As I walk the narrow path and encounter the opportunities and challenges of daily life, staying in Scripture and prayer reminds me that Jesus is walking beside me and the Holy Spirit is living inside me. Being constantly aware of Their presence has dramatically changed my thought-life and my perspective on life. As I've increased investing my time studying Scripture and praying, God has shielded me from the constant bombardment of the trivial, time-wasting and yes sometimes evil messages, data and activities the world system uses to separate me from God and His purpose for my life.

"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness nor the plague that destroys at midday." (Psalm 91:1-6)
One book that's been very helpful to me in this journey is "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young. This book taught me to constantly focus on Jesus' presence." Jesus Calling" helped me get a richer relationship with God and also helped me to know Him better. The best way to illustrate the power of this book is to provide an example of its message. Below is an excerpt from this valuable devotional.
"HOLD MY HAND - AND TRUST" So long as you are conscious of my presence with you,all is well. It is virtually impossible to stumble while walking in the Light with me. I designed you to enjoy Me above all else. You find the deepest fulfillment of your heart in Me alone.
I hope this excerpt has shown you the power and the value of this wonderful Christian book. If you believe this book will enrich your walk with God, you can order it below.Fearful anxious thoughts melt away in the Light of My presence. When you turn away from Me, you are vulnerable to darkness that is always at work in the world. Don't be surprised by how easily you sin when you forget to hold My hand. In the world, dependence is seen as immaturity. But in My kingdom, dependence on Me is a prime measure of maturity."

Pilgrim's Progress Today believes every Christian is given unique spiritual gifts and wisdom through the power of the Holy Spirit to perform specific tasks to fulfill God's purposes . We welcome comments that are spoken in Truth and Love that help build up the Body of Christ.
"Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of Him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work." (Ephesians 4:15-16)
We also welcome comments from non-believers on the condition that they are written in a respectful and courteous manner.
